WICKED WEDNESDAY:Rihanna @ Paris Fashion Week

Rihanna has an amazing sense of style...and an amazing budget to work with! While that is besides the point, what is the point is that she manages to hit every hot trend this season while visiting Paris for Paris' Spring/Summer 2010 Fashion Week.

WICKED WEDNESDAY:

Steal The Look ;-)

I absolutely love this sexy military look featured on Intermix. The price tag is a little steep at $3755, but lo and behold I have a plan to steal the look ;-)

So let's start with the jacket.

Dereon Fall 2009/Winter 2010 Ad

I am so impressed with the House of Dereon Fall 09/Winter 10 ad campaign.
The ad is split up into 2 parts: the new line for House of Dereon, which features sophisticated gowns & dresses, and Dereon, the trendier every-day wear line.
On a taxi ride home, the last thing I expected to see on the taxi news TV was Beyonce! Apparently she knows where to reach city girls who are on the go, and this year she is on point more than ever with what they want to wear.

Tee

Poor Taylor didn't know what to do or say when he handed the mic back - but BEYONCE'S SINGLE LADIES WAS WAAAAAYYYYYYYYY BETTER!!! EVEN LADY GAGA, KELLY CLARKSON AND KATY PERRY WERE BETTER! WEEKEND DIARY:

Jay-Z Unites Top Talent for 9/11 Tribute

Photo credit: AP Photo/ANDY KROPA | Jay-Z performs during the 'Answer The Call' benefit concert at Madison Square Garden, Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, in New York. (AP Photo/Andy Kropa)

Jay-Z's ambitious plan to remix America's feelings about the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks began with a star-studded benefit Friday night at Madison Square Garden that balanced reverence with revelry.

"They believed it would weaken us," Jay-Z said, introducing "Run This Town," which featured Kanye West and Rihanna in one of her first public appearances since her troubles with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. "They were sorely mistaken . . . We stand here tonight even stronger."

For Jay-Z - whose first "Blueprint" album was released on Sept. 11, 2001, and who wanted the release of "The Blueprint 3," which he says is the last in the series, to come out on Sept. 11 as well - crafting the "Answer the Call" benefit was a way to take control of a tragedy that made so many, including himself, feel powerless.

The concert was designed to celebrate the extraordinary acts of heroism and the spirit of unity that sprung up because of the attacks. Jay-Z wanted to connect to the positive aspects of 9/11 rather than dwelling on the negative. "We're celebrating life tonight," Jay-Z said.

All proceeds from the concert will go to the New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund, which also hopes to use the publicity from the show to let more people know about the charity.

Jay-Z got some high-profile help from wife Beyoncé, who performed "Diva," West, Santigold and Kid Cudi, as well as John Mayer, who supplied guitar riffs on "D.O.A." If you missed the concert on Friday, never fear. Catch is again on FUSE TV Sunday at 5pm and 12am ET.

FREAKIN' IT FRIDAY:

Re-cap of Fashion's Night Out

Hey Lovelies!
Presented by Vogue, the CFDA, and NY & Co., September 10th was Fashion's Night Out in New York City. Just one day before the 9/11 anniversary, New Yorkers showed their unmistakable resilience, pouring into the streets with smiles for steals and deals all over the city. Stressing the importance of the retail industry in New York, www.fashionsnightout.com (official site for the event), said:

"Next only to finance, fashion is the second-largest sector of industry in New York City—the headquarters of more than 800 fashion companies employing 175,000 people and generating $10 billion in total wages."

The windows on 5th were full of inspiration, drawing shoppers, revellers, socialites and celebrities to in-store parties, sales, and public festivities. There was great fashion, mini red carpets, roped lines, strobe lights, fabulous sales and lots & lots of people!

Here's what I saw on my way down 5th Avenue:

VERSACE WINDOW ON 5TH
At 8:30PM the Versace store exterior drew the largest crowd on 5th Avenue, with live models in each window showcasing their latest looks.

Jay-Z Releases Blueprint 3, Holds Charity Concert at MSG

Photo credit: AP | FILE - In this Oct. 15, 2008 file photo, rapper Jay-Z performs at the grand reopening of the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. (AP Photo/Matt Sayles, file)

Jay-Z may have pushed up the release date for "The Blueprint 3" because it leaked online, but he wants to keep details of his benefit concert at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 11 under wraps.

Officials from the New York Police & Fire Widows' & Children's Benefit Fund, which will receive 100 percent of the proceeds, are happy to say that the concert, which also will be broadcast live on Fuse, will help bring the charity some much-needed national attention. Officials from Fuse and Madison Square Garden are thrilled because the concert shows how their partnership can bring artists and causes more attention in one package.

Jay-Z supports all that, but when it comes to his own plans, he's a bit more guarded. He says there will be between one and 10 special guests at the show. He says he will do between "four and more" songs from the new album. And when asked early last week what he wanted to reveal about "The Blueprint 3," Jay just smiled and said, "It's really good."

Luckily, he had a few things to say about the event.

THURSDAY FASHION REPORT:

80's Power Play

It's all about the eighties. Strong shoulders, bold colors, dramatic makeup, theatricality - the Power Play of the eighties era could be seen at many runway shows earlier this year, such as Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Zac Posen and the sexy mini-dress menagerie at Herve Leger.

The biggest question is how to translate these stunning styles so they work for everyday, and where to score some great finds without breaking the budget. And of course, there are those innocent little splurges that we just can't live without O:)

Since there are so many great takes on the eighties, and so much in the ready to wear market to choose from, I decided to cover this in 3 parts - each part dedicated to an on-trend, well executed line shown at Fashion Week in February 2009.
This week, let's look at the seductively crisp, colorful Michael Kors!
